The Story Behind Ethnicuisine
My journey with food began long before I stepped foot into culinary school. Growing up I was fascinated by the science experiments my grandmother performed in the kitchen. She would take many different ingredients and turn them into something masterful. That was were I first learned that ingredients are great by themselves, but even better when you combine them with other ingredients. Meals were much more than a form of sustenance; they were family, culture, history, identity. This early exposure ignited a passion to learn more about why food makes us human and what it’s importance is to us.
During my time in culinary school, my curiosity for global cuisines blossomed into a full fledged obsession. I immersed myself into the rich culinary history and traditions of countries far and wide. To me, each recipe is a new adventure, a chance to taste the culture and learn about the people behind the food.
This passion for a cultural perspective of food inspired me to start Ethnicuisine. One day I sat down and realized that I wanted to eat more culturally diverse food. It occurred to me that many other Americans struggle with the same thing, because let’s be honest the American diet and food system is boring. What began as a personal project to document my culinary experiences and experiments has evolved into this blog to share culturally diverse food from around the world with people.
Through Ethnicuisine, I will offer readers a chance to explore the world one bite at a time. Ethnicuisine will feature a mix of traditional recipes and innovative fusion dishes, each carefully crafted to honor the cultural heritage it comes from.
With every post, I will aim to not only provide delicious recipes, but also educate readers about the cultural significance and history behind each dish.
I believe food is a powerful tool for building understanding and appreciation between us. By sharing my culinary experience and knowledge, I hope to inspire others to embrace the diversity of the world’s cuisines and to taste the culture.
Ethnicuisine is the celebration of the global culinary community and an invitation to join on a delicious journey. Whether your a seasoned chef or a curious home cook, there’s something here for you.
